This page explains the reasons behind the mitzvot of Sukkot. We eat in a Sukkah to remind us of the clouds of glory that protected the Jews when they were in the desert. We make a blessing on the four species to remind us to use all the parts of our body to serve G-d. The lulav represents our spine, we can stand tall with Jewish pride. The etrog represents the heart, we can love and care for every Jew. The Haddasim represent our eyes. We can use our eyes to learn and pray. The Aravot represent our lips. We can use our lips to make blessings on food.
